Private Meditation Coaching, Yoga Therapy, and Mindful Movement Sessions
What Type of One-on-One Session Fits Your Needs?
Private Yoga/Movement Sessions
One-on-one movement sessions are perfect for those times when you need a little extra, specialized attention. Perhaps you are recovering from an illness or injury, or maybe you just have questions that can’t be addressed in a group class. I will bring my skills as a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT), as well as my training in Yin Yoga, Qigong, Somatics, and Mindfulness Meditation to tailor a practice just for you.
Some students opt for 1:1 sessions because they feel more comfortable without the presence of other participants, knowing that the teacher is designing the practice to fit their individual needs and interests. Maybe you don’t know what style of movement your body-mind needs, you just know how you’d like to feel – we’ll talk and I’ll figure out what tools and practices will move you towards that goal.
Mindfulness Meditation Coaching
For those ready to begin or deepen a meditation practice, I offer one-on-one coaching. Apps and guided meditations are great, but eventually, you need some personalized instructions to really get the most benefit from your practice. I can help you find the meditation techniques that suit you best, and troubleshoot any obstacles you’re encountering. Meditation Coaching sessions include dialoging about your practice, being led through short meditations to learn new techniques, and discussing how you can apply mindfulness skills in other areas of life. Some students enjoy choosing a mindfulness book to read as homework, and discussing it with me in their sessions. We can also include simple Mindful Movement practices that often make meditation easier and more effective.
With 15 years of experience as a meditator (including an accumulated 4 months of silent retreat practice), I have a rare depth in this area and a passion for encouraging others along their path. I trained as a Mindfulness Meditation teacher at InsightLA, and also completed additional training as a Mindfulness Mentor in the MMT program led by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. While I very much honor tradition, I also embrace trauma-informed, accessible, and neurodiversity-affirming approaches to meditation. I believe meditation can be fun, relevant, fascinating, creative, and practical.
Teacher Mentorship
If you’re a yoga or mindful movement teacher seeking some experienced guidance, I also welcome inquiries about mentorship. I’ve been teaching for about 14 years (full-time for most of it), I’ve owned and operated a brick & mortar studio with employees, I’ve trained dozens of new teachers, I’ve taught in many different settings and I’ve played lots of roles professionally. I can help you with teaching questions, student relationships, professional communications, business strategy, growth and transitions, online tech and marketing.
How do private sessions work?
I offer one-on-one sessions (yoga therapy, meditation coaching, and teacher mentorship) on a sliding scale basis. Through this system, it is possible to make high-quality, personalized teaching accessible to more people, while keeping it sustainable for me as the teacher. Those who can afford to contribute more are supporting the well-being of students/clients who truly need a lower payment in order to access these sessions without compromising their financial health.
The choice of Sliding Scale Tier is up to you, and it’s completely on the honor system. I believe that choosing your contribution for this service can be a mindfulness practice in itself, inviting each of us to reflect on our socio-economic position relative to others, and how we value the world’s healing arts and wisdom traditions, and those with the dedication and skill required to offer them.
Sliding Scale Tiers (for 60 minute online sessions)
Benefactee – $65
Sustaining/Standard Rate – $95
Benefactor – $120 (generously “pays it forward” for others, so I can offer these options)
Online private sessions on Zoom
All of my one-on-one sessions take place online, using the Zoom platform. This allows us to see each other and communicate easily. We can also record your private lesson (if you like), so you can have it as a reference to practice with again later. If you’re not sure about the setup and how well an online private lesson can work, book a Free 15-minute Intro Session with me, and I’ll give you a little demo and answer your questions.
How often do we meet for a one-on-one session?
Some clients choose to work with me weekly, while I see others once or twice a month. We can discuss the frequency of our meetings at your first session and come up with a plan that strikes the right balance for you (depending on what we’re working on together, and your budget).
I prefer to see newer yoga/meditation students weekly or every other week for the first few months, so that we can give you a good foundation for home practice. Once that’s established, a once-monthly meeting can help keep you on track and make sure you’re progressing.
More experienced students may schedule sessions on an occasional basis, whenever they need to check in and get a “tune up” for their practice.
Let's Work Together!
Below, you can schedule a free 15-Minute “Getting To Know You Session” with me on Zoom, which is a great way to ask your questions and get a feel for what it would be like to work together!
You can also schedule full Yoga/Movement, Meditation Coaching, or Teacher Mentorship sessions below.
If you can’t find a time on my calendar that works, message me and I’ll see what we can do. 🙂
Note:Â If you’re a subscriber to the MTM Video Library, FYI this is a separate log-in! You are welcome to use the same username & password to keep things simple for yourself, but just know that private sessions and Zoom events run on a different software platform than our video subscription service…thus the additional log-in account. (Oh the joys of technology!)
After you register, you will be sent a link for the “Zoom Room” we’ll use for our session. If this is your first session with me, I’ll also be sending you a few questionnaires to get to know you. I look forward to practicing with you!
