Yin Yoga Teacher Training Online
My live online Yin Yoga Teacher Trainings are on pause for 2024, while I prioritize writing my book! A new on-demand Yin Yoga training will be coming later in the year.
For updates on future live and on-demand trainings, join the Teacher Trainings Interest List here.
Yin Yoga is a unique combination of Yoga, Chinese Medicine, and Mindfulness Meditation. The body gradually releases its habitual holding as the poses are held passively for several minutes at a time, affecting the nervous system, the body’s connective tissues, and its energetic pathways, like a form of self-acupressure.
Concentration, mindfulness, and receptivity are cultivated in the poses, making Yin Yoga a wonderful introduction to meditation.
The Moved To Meditate Yin Yoga Teacher Trainings, led by Addie deHilster, provide a well-rounded education for aspiring Yin teachers, rooted in Mindfulness Meditation and therapeutic principles. (Read more about Addie.)
Yin Yoga Teacher Training Online: Modules 1 and 2
There are two modules in the Moved To Meditate Yin Yoga Teacher Training program. The trainings are open to current and aspiring yoga teachers, as well as enthusiastic students.
Module 1: Mindful Yin Yoga Foundations is a great starting point if you are new to teaching (or practicing) Yin Yoga. This module covers all of the fundamentals you need to begin leading Yin Yoga classes (in person or online).
If you have some previous Yin Yoga training, you can expand your toolkit with Module 2: The Heart of Yin Yoga. This module goes deeper into trauma-informed Yin Yoga practices, and Yin as a support for emotional resilience and insight. This training is recommended if you are interested in teaching Yin in private sessions, working one-on-one with students.
Note: If you’re interested in Module 2, but your earlier Yin studies didn’t include extensive training of the use of props, it is suggested that you first take the 8-hour Yin Yoga Poses + Props training. (It’s available on-demand anytime.) This is recommended because offering kind, intelligent pose options is absolutely essential to a trauma-informed approach, and this skill is assumed for Module 2 trainees.
Module 1: Mindful Yin Yoga Foundations
In the Mindful Yin Yoga Foundations Training, you will gain the essential skills to lead safe and meaningful Yin Yoga classes. Through a mix of lecture, discussion, practice, and self-study, you will deepen your experience of Yin Yoga as a form of embodied meditation, as well as a support for physical and energetic wellness.
This 35-hour training module covers:
- Principles of Practice in the Yin Yoga style
- Yin-Yang theory and Taoist concepts
- Chinese Medicine, Qi, and the 5 major energy meridians in Yin Yoga
- Anatomy of the joints and soft tissues affected by Yin Yoga
- In-depth study of 24 Yin Yoga poses, with numerous propping options
- Buddhist Mindfulness Meditation practices applied in Yin poses
This training harnesses Addie’s extensive experience teaching thousands of Yin Yoga classes, as well as her rare knowledge of both Yoga Therapy and Mindfulness Meditation. (Read about Addie’s training and teaching experience here.)
You’ll gain an understanding of your students’ anatomical individuality, and an appreciation for the body’s amazing fascia system. Practical teaching tools will be offered, including how to give skillful verbal cues for Yin poses, how to time the poses, adapting the Yin poses for safety and accessibility, and how to use props with confidence.
You’ll also become familiar with fundamental mindfulness teachings and meditation practices so that you can guide your students into deeper presence while they hold Yin Yoga poses. Since it’s a live online training, you will benefit from the opportunity to ask questions, interact with your trainer, and join a community of fellow Yin practitioners.

Module 2: The Heart of Yin Yoga
In the Heart of Yin Yoga Training, we delve more deeply into mindfulness, heartfulness, and embodiment through the Yin Yoga practice. Through further practice and study, you’ll refine your trauma-informed teaching skills and learn to use Yin Yoga as a stress resilience practice. These teachings will help prepare you to lead insightful one-on-one Yin Yoga sessions and more impactful group classes.
This 30-hour training module covers:
- Working with the nervous system and preparing for stillness
- Lovingkindness and Compassion Meditation practices within the Yin poses
- The Mindfulness Meditation practice of RAIN and other forms of inquiry
- Interoception (inner awareness) and embodiment
- Applying trauma-informed principles to Yin Yoga
- Creating effective class sequences and meaningful themes
While many people think of stretching and flexibility when they think of Yin Yoga, the benefits of the practice can be far more profound, especially on the mental-emotional level. Yin Yoga can help us slow down, build stress resilience, and enhance our mental health and well-being. And, at the same time, the stillness of Yin Yoga can be very challenging, even confronting, for many students.
In this module, we focus on how to help students navigate their inner terrain, from felt sensations to moods, emotions, and thoughts. You’ll learn helpful principles like working within the “window of tolerance” and titrating exposure to more challenging experiences. We’ll discuss how our choice of poses and meditations, as well as the sequencing of those elements can best support these intentions.
What’s included in the Heart of Yin Yoga Training:
– 4 interactive meetings (16 live hours on Zoom) with practice, lecture, and group discussion
– Downloadable recordings of the live sessions (in case you miss one, or want to review)
– Includes 3-month subscription to the Moved To Meditate Class Library for your at-home Yin Yoga practice
– Print-able notes and slides
– Certificate of Completion, preparing you to teach deeper and more meaningful Yin Yoga classesÂ
– 30 Yoga Alliance CEU Hours
You’ll benefit from Addie’s experiences teaching numerous public Yin Yoga classes and well as many private Yin Yoga sessions over the years. As a Yoga Therapist and Mindfulness Meditation teacher, she combines multiple skillsets to help students explore and grow through these practices. (Read more about Addie’s training and teaching experience here.)
And, since this a live online training, you will have the opportunity to ask questions, interact with your trainer, and join a community of fellow Yin practitioners.
